  Theaterplakate gehören zur Tätigkeit des Theaters. Anfangs erfüllten sie eine reine Gebrauchsfunktion, indem sie über ein kulturelles Ereignis informierten, das an einem bestimmten Tag, zu einer bestimmten Uhrzeit, an einem bestimmten Ort stattfinden wird. Mit der Zeit bekamen sie jedoch die Eigenschaften eines Zeugens aus der Vergangenheit, indem sie die Geschichte ihres Urhebers zeigten, das Profil seiner Tätigkeit, die in seiner Struktur vor sich gehenden Veränderungen. Die Wurzeln der Theaterplakate sind schon in der Antike zu suchen, sie wurden von Ägyptern, Römern und Griechen geschaffen. Das älteste neuzeitliche Plakat erschien 1429 in London und ist heute ein Exponat im Londoner Theatermuseum. Die Geschichte der polnischen Plakate reicht bis ins 16. oder 17. Jahrhundert zurück, hier sind sich die Forscher nicht einig, und ist entweder mit einem Jesuitenkollegium oder mit dem königlichen Theater verbunden. Die im Text analysierten Thorner Plakate stammen aus den Jahren 1922-1975 und werden in den Sammlungen der Kopernikus-Bücherei und in den Beständen des Staatsarchivs in Thorn aufbewahrt. Geschaffen wurden sie vom Theater in Thorn. Heute ist es das Wilam-Horzyca-Theater, doch sein Name, sein Tätigkeitsfeld, seine Organisationsstruktur und auch sein Profil und die Art seiner Tätigkeit änderten sich im Laufe der besprochenen Jahre vielmals. Die Plakate wurden in chronologischer Ordnung mit einer Aufteilung in Gruppen besprochen. Die Autorinnen beachteten den Inhalt, seine Anordnung und die Form der Aufzeichnung, das Format der Plakate, ihre Farbgebung, Ornamentik und die verwendete Ikonographie. Jede Gruppe wurde detailliert besprochen und illustriert. Nicht allein das Theater in Thorn schuf in der Stadt Theaterplakate. Eine ähnliche aktenkundliche Analyse lässt sich in Bezug auf das Puppentheater „Baj Pomorski” durchführen, doch ist das schon Material für einen gesonderten Artikel.;
  Theatre posters constitute part of the theatre's activity. Originally they play a purely functional role informing about a cultural event, which will take place on a given day and at a given time, in a given venue. With time, however, they become witnesses of the past, showing the history of their creator, his or her profile of activity, and changes taking place in the structure of the creator's performance. Theatre posters date back to antiquity. They were created by Egyptians, Romans and Greeks. The oldest early modern poster appeared in London in 1429, and it is now kept in the London theatre museum. The history of Polish posters dates back to the 16th or the 17th centuries (researchers cannot agree on the exact century) and is linked with either the Jesuit College or the royal theatre. Torun's posters analyzed in the text come from the years 1922-1975 and are stored in the collection of Copernicus Library and the State Archive in Torun. They were created by the theatre in Torun. Today it is Wilam Horzyca Theatre, and its name, the scope of activity, the organizational structure, the profile and character of its activity have changed over the years many times. The posters were discussed chronologically and divided into groups. The authors paid special attention to the content, its structure and the manner it was presented, the format of the posters, their colours, ornaments and iconography. Each group was discussed in detail and illustrated. The theatre in Torun is not the only creator of theatre posters in the town. A similar analysis can be conducted in relation to the puppet theatre company Baj Pomorski, which is the issue to be discussed in another article.;
  Afisze teatralne wpisane są w działalność teatru. Początkowo pełnią funkcje czysto użytkowe informując o wydarzeniu kulturalnym, które będzie miało miejsce konkretnego dnia, o konkretnej godzinie, w ustalonym miejscu, z czasem nabierają jednak cech świadka przeszłości, ukazując historię swego twórcy, profil jego działalności, zachodzące w jego strukturze zmiany. Korzeni afiszy teatralnych należy szukać już w starożytności, tworzyli je Egipcjanie, Rzymianie i Grecy. Najstarszy nowożytny afisz ukazał się w Londynie w 1429 r. i jest dziś eksponatem w londyńskim muzeum teatralnym. Historia polskich afiszy sięga XVI lub XVII w., tutaj badacze nie są zgodni, a wiąże się bądź to z kolegium jezuickim, bądź teatrem królewskim. Toruńskie afisze poddane w tekście analizie pochodzą z lat 1922-1975 i są przechowywane w zbiorach Książnicy Kopernikańskiej i zasobie Archiwum Państwowego w Toruniu. Ich twórcą jest teatr w Toruniu. Dziś jest to Teatr im. Wilama Horzycy choć jego nazwa, obszar działalności, struktura organizacyjna, a także profil i charakter działalności zmieniały się na przestrzeni omawianych lat wielokrotnie. Afisze zostały omówione w układzie chronologicznym z podziałem na grupy. Autorki zwracały uwagę na treść, jej układ i sposób zapisu, format afiszy, ich kolorystykę, ornamentykę i wykorzystaną ikonografię. Każda z grup została szczegółowo omówiona i zilustrowana. Teatr w Toruniu, to nie jedyny twórca afiszy teatralnych w mieście. Podobną analizę aktoznawczą przeprowadzić można w odniesieniu do teatru lalek „Baj Pomorski” jednak jest to już materiał na osobny artykuł.
