Let’s go to the beach!
For the beginning of summer we offer a lite and pleasant holiday post – photographs available in stocks of libraries belonging to the Digital Libraries Federation, that depict vacationists on sea and lake beaches. Most of them come from Polish beaches, but we can also find a few foreign ones from for example California or Italy. Of course the libraries from regions associated with spending time near the water cannot let us down: the Zachodniopomorska Digital Library POMERANIA and the Warmia-Mazury Digital Library. In the case of this first one, there are monochrome, German photographs from the first half of 20th century (Seebad Heingsdorf, Ostseebad Binz, Ostseebad Göhren, Der Hengst), and in the second one we can find photos from a beach Ukiel in Olsztyn (for example there and here). Interesting photographs can be found in PAUart – a catalogue of artistic and scientific stocks of Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences – there are among others an arch in San Francisco, an island of enchantress Kirke in Italy, young Karolina Lanckorońska or a boy by the sea. Apart from that, some single objects are shared also by the National Digital Library POLONA (a beach in Gdynia) and the National Digital Museum in Warsaw (kids and holiday by the sea).
