One of the most willingly read archival atlases are those about animals and plants – as well for the beautiful illustrations as for the species that do not exist anymore. In stocks of libraries belonging to the Digital Libraries Federation we can find many environmental atlases which represent the best quality of graphics and the whole range of fauna and flora species. Interesting publications can be found in the Digital Library of Wielkopolska – there are among others a 3 notebooks of a Little Atlas of Sucking Animals (1, 2, 3) from the 30s and a colourful World of Animals from 1921. Exquisitely illustrated atlases are shared by the National Digital Library POLONA – part of them are in English – these are mainly books about birds, for example: Pigeons of Australia and Birds of Australia, but also there is a Polish Little Pocket Atlas about fish. An interesting form of environmental atlases we can find in the Jagiellonian Digital Library – in their stocks it places websites in English, connected with documenting species of plants and animals: Encyclopedia of Life and The World Potato Atlas. Some other, equally interesting and amazingly illustrated objects can be seen among others in: the Mazovian Digital Library (part 3. of the Animal Nation Atlas), in the Digital Library of Silesia (Little Atlas of Mountain Plants from 1925) and in the Lower Silesian Digital Library (for a change – modern Atlas of Plants Anatomy from 2007).
