  The Warsaw sex market experienced its greatest boom in the interwar period. This refers both to its spatial and quantitative dimensions. However, the process originated long before 1918. The first significant changes occurred in the nineteenth century when prostitution crossed the borders of the Old Town and spread systematically along with the development of the metropolis. This movement was conditioned by administrative decisions as well as the needs of clients, the changing topography of the city and the decisions of Warsaw’s prostitutes.;
  Warszawski rynek usług seksualnych swój największy rozkwit przeżył w okresie międzywojennym. Uwaga ta odnosi się zarówno do jego wymiarów przestrzennych, jak i ilościowych. Proces kształtowania się tego fenomenu rozpoczął się jednak na długo przed 1918 r. Pierwsze istotne zmiany nastąpiły w XIX w., kiedy to przekroczył granice Starego Miasta i wraz z rozwojem metropolii systematycznie się rozprzestrzeniał. Ten ruch warunkowały zarówno decyzje administracyjne, jak i potrzeby klientów, zmieniająca się topografia miasta oraz decyzje warszawskich prostytutek.
