Particular attention is given to the relationship between the individual and the society in utopian thought. Further Kondylis presents two main approaches to utopia: one rooted in religious tradition and the other secular, relying on science for legitimation. These two positions, although antagonistic, are argued by the author to complement each other. In the final section, Kondylis critically analyses the early modern utopists, focusing on the subordination of their visions to reason and rationalism. He draws attention to the attempts by philosophers to integrate utopia with reality, which, in his view, lead to the impoverishment of the original ideological and conceptual depth of the utopian project.   Przedmiotem tekstu Zur geistigen Struktur der utopischen Konstruktionen des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts autorstwa Panajotisa Kondylisa jest analiza intelektualnych oraz historycznych podstaw myśli utopijnej w XVI i XVII wieku. We wprowadzeniu autor podkreśla, że rozwój krytyki utopii był opóźniony w stosunku do krytyki ideologii, zwłaszcza w obrębie dyskursu marksistowskiego. Kondylis omawia, w jaki sposób marksizm odrzucał wcześniejsze wizje utopijne jako nierealistyczne i idealistyczne, zarzucając im brak uwzględnienia historycznych realiów społecznych. Celem artykułu jest dogłębna analiza logicznej formy i historycznej funkcji utopijnych konstrukcji. Autor porównuje poglądy istotnych przedstawicieli myśli utopijnej z ich adwersarzami, określając pierwszych mianem „optymistów”, drugich zaś „pesymistów”. Wskazuje zarówno cechy wspólne dla tych przeciwstawnych stanowisk, jak i różnice między nimi w obszarach takich jak antropologia, stan naturalny, wizje przeszłości i przyszłości czy koncepcje wychowania. Kondylis krytykuje również teorie państwa i społeczeństwa, które ignorują aspekty antropologiczne, argumentując, że właśnie one mogą dostarczyć kluczowych narzędzi do ich głębszego zrozumienia. W kolejnych częściach autor bada czynniki zakłócające harmonię utopii oraz analizuje proponowane przez utopistów sposoby ich przezwyciężenia. Szczególną uwagę  poświęca relacji między jednostką a społeczeństwem w myśli utopijnej. Kondylis przedstawia także dwa zasadnicze podejścia do utopii: jedno zakorzenione w tradycji religijnej, drugie o charakterze świeckim, które w swojej legitymizacji odwołuje się do nauki. Obie te postawy, mimo że antagonistyczne, zdaniem autora wzajemnie się uzupełniają. W ostatniej części Kondylis krytycznie analizuje nowożytnych utopistów, koncentrując się na podporządkowaniu ich wizji rozumowi i racjonalizmowi. Zwraca uwagę na próby filozofów zmierzające do integracji utopii z rzeczywistością, które, jego zdaniem, prowadzą do zubożenia jej pierwotnej ideowej i konceptualnej głębi. Podsumowując, tekst Kondylisa stanowi wszechstronną analizę filozoficznych podstaw myśli utopijnej, ukazując złożoność i wewnętrzne sprzeczności, które towarzyszą ludzkim dążeniom do kreowania idealnych społeczeństw.
