  These/Ziel: Der vorliegende Beitrag rekurriert auf den Verlag „Kultura i Sztuka“ (Kultur und Kunst), eine kleine Firma Hermann Stachels in Lemberg, die sich mit der Herausgabe der Trivialliteratur befasste. Man setzte sich zum Ziel, die herausgegebenen Publikationen einer Sachanalyse zu unterziehen, ihre physischen Eigenschaften zu bestimmen sowie die unbekannten Ereignisse aus der Tätigkeit Hermann Stachels nachzuweisen. Demzufolge sollte die Trivialliteratur, die vor ca. hundert Jahren hohes Aufsehen erregte, genau erläutert werden. Forschungsmethode: Die Analyse bezieht sich auf die Bücher aus den Katalogen der Nationalbibliothek und der Jagiellonen-Bibliothek. Im Resultat wurden zahlreiche unbekannte Tatsachen über den Verlag und die Buchhandlung Hermann Stachels erschlossen, diese Frage wurde bisher nicht eingehend genug dargestellt. Ergebnisse/Schlussfolgerungen: Die Analyse der Veröffentlichungen ergab, dass die literarischen Werke der sowohl polnischen als auch der fremden Autoren, die an der Wende vom 19. zum 20. Jahrhundert schufen, in dieser Gruppe am zahlreichsten vertreten waren. Großer Popularität erfreuten sich die gesellschaftlich-sittlichen, Liebes-, erotische, historische Romane und Krimis für Erwachsene sowie andere satirische Werke, aber auch die Kinder- und Jugendliteratur. Von der gleichen Bedeutung waren auch Bücher, die sich auf verschiedene Fachdisziplinen bezogen (wie etwa Psychologie, Parapsychologie, Geistesphilosophie, Psychiatrie, Spiritismus, Medizin). Weniger zahlreich waren dabei die Hand- und Kochbücher.;
  Aim: The subject of this article is the Publishing House “Kultura i Sztuka”, a small company run by Herman Stachel in Lviv, which remained on the market thanks to the production of popular books. The main task was the material analysis of the published items, determining their physical characteristics, as well as establishing unknown facts about the activities of Herman Stachel. It was also assumed that the undertaken actions would result in the emergence of writings that about a hundred years ago could count on the interest of the audience. Research method: The study included books appearing in the catalogues of the National Library and the Jagiellonian Library. As a result, a number of unknown facts were given relating to the publishing house and bookstore of Herman Stachel, but this topic has not been exhausted. Results/Conclusions: The analysis of the published texts allowed us to state that the largest group among them constituted literary works written by Polish and foreign authors at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Novels for adults on socio-moral, love and erotic, criminal and historical topics stood out along with satirical works. Literature for children and youth was richly represented. A large group was made up of books popularizing knowledge from various subject areas (psychology, parapsychology, spiritual philosophy, psychiatry, spiritualism, medicine). Guidebooks and cookery books were fewer.;
  Cel/Teza: Tematem niniejszego artykułu jest Wydawnictwo „Kultura i Sztuka”, mała firma prowadzona przez Hermana Stachla we Lwowie, która utrzymywała się na rynku dzięki produkcji książek popularnych. Głównym zadaniem była analiza rzeczowa wydanych pozycji, określenie ich cech fizycznych, a także ustalenie nieznanych faktów z działalności H. Stachla. Zakładano także, że podjęte czynności wyłonią piśmiennictwo, które około sto lat temu mogło liczyć na zainteresowanie publiczności. Metoda badawcza: Badaniem objęto książki występujące w katalogach Biblioteki Narodowej i Biblioteki Jagiellońskiej. W rezultacie podano szereg nieznanych faktów odnoszących się do wydawnictwa i księgarni H. Stachla, jednak temat ten nie został wyczerpany. Analiza wydawnictw pozwoliła stwierdzić, że największą grupę wśród nich stanowiły utwory literackie napisane przez autorów polskich i obcych tworzących na przełomie XIX i XX w. Wyniki/Wnioski: Liczebnością wyróżniały się powieści dla dorosłych o tematyce społeczno-obyczajowej, miłosnej i erotycznej, kryminalnej, historycznej i utwory satyryczne. Bogato była reprezentowana literatura dla dzieci i młodzieży. Dużą grupę tworzyły książki popularyzujące wiedzę z różnych obszarów tematycznych (psychologia, parapsychologia, filozofia ducha, psychiatria, spirytyzm, medycyna). Mniej liczne były poradniki i książki kucharskie. Oprawy wydawnictw H. Stachla były przeciętne, charakterystyczne dla epoki. Zaletą książek był poręczny format, umiarkowana cena i bardzo czytelny druk.
