  Die Buchforschung bezieht sich auf alle Lebensaspekte eines Buches, d. i. die Herstellung, Verbreitung und Benutzung des Buches. Seit dem 16. Jahrhundert wurde der typografische Bereich der Druckereien vereinheitlicht, und man schlug vor, bei der Erforschung des Druckwesens im 19. Jahrhundert die Veröffentlichungen eines Typs zu analysieren und dabei den Einband, die typografische Komposition, die Abbildungen und den Verlagsrahmen in Betracht zu ziehen. Diese Thematik wird aber von den Autoren selten aufgenommen, meistens am Rande ihrer anderen Überlegungen. Dieser Artikel ist eigentlich nur ein kleiner Beitrag zur Geschichte des Editionswesens im Zusammenhang mit einer bestimmten Buchform. Geschildert wird hier die typografisch-verlegerische Form der Handbücher, die von der Verlagsbuchhandlung von Kazimierz Stanisław Jakubowski veröffentlicht wurden. Sein Unternehmen entstand in Lemberg im Ausgang des 19. Jahrhunderts und wirkte bis 1939. Diese Zeit gehört zu den sog. „vormodernen Zeiten“, in denen die Aufgaben des Druckers und Verlegers sehr häufig von einer Person ausgeführt wurden. Die Handbücher, die vom Unternehmen Jakubowskis herausgegeben wurden, waren von den Zeitgenossen sehr hoch bewertet. Im vorliegenden Artikel schilderte man die Ergebnisse der Analyse von 61 Handbüchern. Die Untersuchungen bestätigen, dass die damaligen Druckereien über einen sehr reichen typografischen Bestand verfügten. In den Veröffentlichungen kam eine sehr differenzierte Schrift (bezüglich der Schrifttype und der Größe) vor, immer an das Alter des Schülers und seine kognitiven Möglichkeiten angepasst. Man bediente sich vieler Stile im Satz der Prosatexte und der Dichtung. Die Seitenelemente waren sorgfältig geplant. Breite Ränder, positiver Zeilenabstand sowie die sog. leeren Verse ließen viel Platz unbedruckt, was die Lektüre komfortabler machte. Das Vorteil dieser Veröffentlichungen war auch eine durchsichtige Textgliederung in kleinere Abschnitte und ihre präzise Markierung mithilfe von Überschriften. Unter den Bestandteilen des Verlagsrahmens sind zahlreiche Anhänger bemerkenswert. Die Bücher wurden mit zahlreichen Abbildungen bekannter Künstler verziert, meistens schwarz-weiß. Die besagten Elemente hatten vermutlich Einfluss auf die hohe Bewertung der Bücher Jakubowskis ähnlich wie die Tatsache, dass er mit hervorragenden Autoren zusammenarbeitete und ein gewissenhafter Redaktor war.;
  The research on the book includes all the aspects of its life – manufacture, distribution and use. From the 16th century the typographic resources of printing houses became standardized. Thus, the author suggested that the analysis should apply to only one kind of publication and focus on its cover, typographic layout, illustrations, publishing framework. This subject matter is rarely addressed by authors as a separate problem. This article is a minor contribution to the history of editing of a strictly defined form of a book. It discusses the typographic and editing layout of school course books published by the bookshop of Kazimierz Stanisław Jakubowski. It was set up in Lviv at the end of the 19th century. The job of a printer and a publisher was often performed by one person. Course books printed and published by Jakubowski were highly valued by contemporary users. The article presents the findings of the analysis of 61 course books. The research confirms that printing houses of the time had rich typographic resources. The publications included various fonts of print, invariably adjusted to the age and abilities of the student. Various styles were applied in the edition of prosaic and poetic texts. Elements of the page were carefully planned. Wide margins, interline spacing and the so called empty lines left much space free of print, which facilitated reading. Another good point of the publications was the transparent division of the text into smaller units and precise distribution of headlines. Among elements of the publishing framework there are various appendices. Books were adorned with numerous illustrations, mostly black and white. The above-mentioned factors and the fact that this reliable editor cooperated with outstanding authors contributed to the fact that books published by Jakubowski were highly valued.;
  Badania nad książką obejmują wszystkie aspekty jej życia, czyli wytwarzanie, rozpowszechnianie i użytkowanie. Od XVI w. stopniowo ulegał ujednoliceniu zasób typograficzny drukarń, dlatego proponowano, by badając drukarstwo XIX w., wybierać do analizy wydawnictwa jednego typu, zwracać uwagę na oprawę, kompozycję typograficzną, ilustracje, ramę wydawniczą. Tematyka ta jest jednak rzadko podejmowana przez autorów, często na marginesie innych rozważań. Niniejszy artykuł jest zaledwie drobnym przyczynkiem do historii edytorstwa określonej formy książki. Omawia się w nim kształt typograficzno-wydawniczy podręczników publikowanych przez księgarnię nakładową Kazimierza Stanisława Jakubowskiego. Jego firma powstała we Lwowie pod koniec XIX w. i pracowała do 1939 r. Okres ten należy do tzw. „czasów przednowoczesnych”, kiedy bardzo często zadania drukarza i wydawcy wykonywała jedna osoba. Podręczniki produkowane przez firmę Jakubowskiego były bardzo wysoko oceniane przez współczesnych. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analizy 61 podręczników. Badania potwierdzają, że w tamtym czasie drukarnie dysponowały już bardzo bogatym zasobem typograficznym. W publikacjach występowało pismo bardzo różnorodne pod względem kroju i wysokości, zawsze dostosowane do wieku ucznia i możliwości jego percepcji. Stosowano wiele stylów, układając teksty prozatorskie i poetyckie. Elementy strony były starannie rozplanowane. Szerokie arginesy, interlinia dodatnia oraz tzw. puste wiersze pozostawiały dużo przestrzeni niezadrukowanej, co sprzyjało czytaniu. Zaletą tych wydawnictw było także przejrzyste dzielenie tekstu na mniejsze jednostki i precyzyjne ich oznaczanie za pomocą nagłówków. Wśród składników ramy wydawniczej zwracają uwagę różnorodne załączniki. Książki zdobiły liczne ilustracje znanych artystów, były one w większości czarno-białe. Wymienione czynniki zapewne miały wpływ na wysoką ocenę książek Jakubowskiego, jak również to, że współpracował ze znakomitymi autorami i sam był sumiennym redaktorem.
