  The article is an attempt to introduce the figure of one of the abbots of the Żagań Convent of Canons Regular, Paweł Lembergek from Żary, who in the literature is often referred to as Paweł of Lwówek or the iron abbot. Paweł, who ruled the Żagań convent in the 16th century, is a figure of particular importance for the history of the Żagań abbey. He was sent to study in Wittenberg, where he met MartinLuther and his religious views, which left their mark on him. The consequence of this was that Paul supported Lutheranism as abbot of the monastery. Paweł is an excellent example of how great an influence Protestant ideas had in Silesia, not only among the local population,but also among the local clergy. The reign of Abbot Paweł is a breakthrough moment, inscribed in the narrative of the monastery chronicle in the process of the religious declineof the Żagań convent.;
  Artykuł jest próbą przybliżenia postaci jednego z opatów żagańskiego konwentu kanoników regularnych, Pawła Lembergka z Żar, który w literaturze jest często określany mianem Paweł z Lwówka lub „żelaznym” opatem. Rządzący konwentem żagańskim w XVI w. Paweł jest postacią szczególnie ważną dla historii tamtejszego opactwa. Wysłany na studia do Wittenbergi poznał tam Marcina Lutra i jego poglądy, które odcisnęły na nim swój ślad. Konsekwencją tego było popieranie luteranizmu przez późniejszego opata w swoim klasztorze. Postać ta jest doskonałym przykładem tego, jak wielki wpływ wywarły na Śląsku protestanckie idee nie tylko wśród miejscowej ludności, ale także pośród lokalnego duchowieństwa. Rządy opata Pawła są momentem przełomowym, wpisującymsię w narracji kroniki klasztornej w proces upadku religijnego konwentu z Żagania.
