  For the first time, clerics were conscripted for service in the People's Polish Army in 1955. It was a new method of repression applied to the Catholic Church, and its aim was to discourage candidates for priesthood to pursue their chosen way of life. The ending of this persecution was laid only by the election of the Polish Pope to the Holy See. In total, in the years 1955-1979   2,713 clerics were repressed throughout Poland.The article discusses the historical background, motivations of the communist authorities, counteraction on the part of the Polish Episcopate and individual hierarchs, emphasizing in particular the protective actions taken by the clergy of the Poznań Archdiocese towards the clerical youth serving in the People's Polish Army. The source basis was the correspondence of seminarians with the superiors of the seminar and studies on the recent history of the state and the Church.;
  Po raz pierwszy poboru kleryków do służby w Ludowym Wojsku Polskim dokonano w 1955 roku. Była to nowa metoda represji zastosowana wobec Kościoła katolickiego, zaś jej celem było zniechęcenie kandydatów do kapłaństwa do realizacji obranej drogi życiowej. Kres tym prześladowaniom położył dopiero wybór papieża-Polaka na Stolicę Piotrową. Ogółem w latach 1955-1979 represjonowano 2.713 kleryków w całej Polsce.Artykuł omawia tło historyczne, motywacje władz komunistycznych, przeciwdziałanie ze strony Episkopatu Polski i poszczególnych hierarchów, akcentując w sposób szczególny działania ochronne podejmowane przez duchowieństwo archidiecezji poznańskiej wobec młodzieży kleryckiej służącej w Ludowym Wojsku Polskim. Podstawą źródłową była korespondencja kleryków z przełożonymi seminarium oraz opracowania dotyczące najnowszej historii państwa i Kościoła.
