  The impact of green infrastructure on the thermal conditions of the cities of northern Wielkopolska and its place in the local climate policy

  Green infrastructure (GI) of urban areas provides multiple regulating ecosystem services. Its significant influence on the air temperature distribution in the city and the regulation of the water cycle is of strategic importance for the adaptation of cities to climate change and ensuring a high quality of life for residents. The aim of the study is to quantify the GI role in shaping thermal conditions in the 31 cities andtowns located in the northern part of Wielkopolska Region. At the same time, an attempt was made to evaluate the urban climate policies by analysing the GI-related contents in environmental protectionprogrammes and low-carbon economy plans. Using the Landsat 8 multispectral satellite image and GIS processing, NDVI (normalized difference vegetation index) and brightness temperature within selected cities and their buffer zones were quantified. Obtained results were used to indirectly assess the role of GI in the regulation of air temperature in the study areas. The results obtained were compared to the provisions of the mentioned municipal documents. The research confirmed the significant and spatially diversified influence of GI on the reduction of brightness temperature in cities. Under the same atmospheric conditions, the differences in the mean temperature between cities with different GI shares exceeded even 5°C. However, such an important role of GI is insufficiently stressed in the climate policies of cities, where investments in grey infrastructure are much more common and the crucial links between grey, blue and green infrastructure are in many cases ignored.;
  Zielona infrastruktura (ZI) obszarów zurbanizowanych dostarcza wielu regulacyjnych usług ekosystemowych. Jej istotny wpływ na rozkład temperatury powietrza w mieście i regulację obiegu wody ma strategiczne znaczenie dla adaptacji miast do zmian klimatu i zapewnienia wysokiej jakości życia mieszkańców. Celem pracy jest rozpoznanie ilościowe ZI w miastach województwa wielkopolskiego położonych na północ od Poznania (31 obiektów) w kontekście wpływu na warunki termiczne. Jednocześnie podjęto próbę oceny uwzględnienia koncepcji ZI w polityce klimatycznej miast poprzez analizę zapisów zawartych w wybranych dokumentach strategicznych. Wykorzystując zdjęcie satelitarne Landsat 8 oraz metody GIS, wyliczono wartości wskaźnika NDVI (ang. normalized difference vegetation index – znormalizowany różnicowy wskaźnik wegetacji) oraz opracowano rozkłady temperatury radiacyjnej. Posłużyły one do pośredniej oceny roli ZI w regulacji temperatury powietrza w miastach. Uzyskane w ten sposób wynikiodniesiono do zapisów dokumentów miejskich w zakresie lokalnej polityki klimatycznej. W toku badań potwierdzono znaczny i zróżnicowany przestrzennie wpływ ZI na obniżanie temperatury radiacyjnej w miastach. W tych samych warunkach atmosfery różnice wysokości średniej temperatury radiacyjnej obliczonej dla miast różniących się udziałem ZI przekraczały nawet 5°C. Tak ważna rola ZI nie znalazła jednak bezpośredniego przełożenia na politykę klimatyczną miast, w której wyżej pozycjonowane są działania inwestycyjne w szarej infrastrukturze, a powiązania między szarą, niebieską i zieloną infrastrukturą są w wielu przypadkach pomijane.
