  This paper proposes to investigate how Italy is represented in a selection of textbooks and workbooks used in teaching Italian as a foreign language in German-speaking areas. After an introduction about the functions that can be attributed to the use of images, it focuses on concrete examples of activities and aims to analyze their didactic objectives as well as social and cultural aspects of the “Belpaese” that are depicted as representative.;
  Il presente contributo si propone una riflessione sulle modalità con cui viene rappresentata l’Italia in una selezione di libri di testo in uso nell’insegnamento dell’italiano come lingua straniera in ambienti germanofoni. Dopo una parte introduttiva dedicata alle funzioni che possono essere attribuite all’impiego di immagini, a partire da esempi concreti di attività proposte in vari manuali, ci si concentra sugli obiettivi didattici perseguiti, focalizzando l’attenzione, in particolare, su aspetti socioculturali del Belpaese che vengono raffigurati come rappresentativi.
