The aim of the article is to present scientific and didactic activities that have been undertaken since 1995 by scholars from the Department of Intercultural Education at the University of Bialystok, related to deepening a theoretical reflection as well as developing socio-cultural and personal identity in the multicultural environment of Podlaskie Region. Scientific reflection on the issue of the identity of inhabitants of borderland is carried out in the form of conducted research, published research results in scientific journals and books, implementation of research projects and organization of scientific conferences. Dissemination of the scientific achievements by the scholars also took place through educational activities exemplified by conducting classes in the field of regional, multicultural and intercultural education, leading and participating in national and international scientific projects and cooperating with the local environment, mainly schools and non-governmental by organizing intercultural competence workshops. The initiatives listed above constitute a theoretical and practical offer, which can be a starting point for analyzes, comparisons and discussions in the field of identifying as well as creating ideas for the implementation of regional, multicultural and intercultural education both in formal and informal spaces.;
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest prezentacja działań naukowo-dydaktycznych podejmowanych od 1995 roku przez pracowników Katedry, a uprzednio Zakładu Edukacji Międzykulturowej Uniwersytetu w Białymstoku, związanych z pogłębianiem refleksji, jak również kreowaniem tożsamości społeczno-kulturowej i osobowej w warunkach wielokulturowości Podlasia. Refleksja naukowa nad problematyką tożsamości człowieka pogranicza prowadzona jest w formie badań, wydawanych publikacji, realizacji projektów badawczych i organizacji konferencji naukowych. Upowszechnienie dorobku naukowego Zespołu następuje również poprzez działalność o charakterze edukacyjnym egzemplifikowaną realizacją przedmiotów dydaktycznych z zakresu problematyki edukacji regionalnej, wielo- i międzykulturowej, prowadzenie krajowych i międzynarodowych projektów dydaktyczno-metodycznych oraz współpracę z środowiskiem lokalnym, która przyjmuje formę realizacji w szkołach czy też organizacjach pozarządowych warsztatów uwrażliwiających na odmienność kulturową. Wymienione powyżej inicjatywy stanowią teoretyczną i praktyczną ofertę, która może być punktem wyjścia do analiz, porównań i dyskusji w zakresie kształtowania tożsamości, jak również kreowania pomysłów na realizację edukacji regionalnej, wielo- i międzykulturowej zarówno w przestrzeni formalnej, jak i nieformalnej.
