  The article attempts to analyse the composition of households in two large cities of the Commonwealth in the mid-seventeenth century: Warsaw and Lviv. Two poll tax registers – from 1658 and 1662 – were used for this purpose. The research confirmed a close relationship between the wealth of goodmen and the size and structure of their households. The information thus collected was also confronted with the results of studies from other urban centres of the Commonwealth.;
  W artykule podjęta została próba analizy składu osobowego gospodarstw domowych z dwóch dużych miast Rzeczypospolitej z połowy XVII w. – Warszawy i Lwowa. W tym celu wykorzystano dwa rejestry podatku pogłównego – z 1658 i 1662 r. W rezultacie przeprowadzonych badań potwierdzona została ścisła relacja między zamożnością głów rodzin a wielkością i strukturą ich gospodarstw domowych. Zebrane w ten sposób informacje zostały także skonfrontowane z wynikami badań z innych ośrodków miejskich Rzeczypospolitej.
