  Names of immature creatures in 18th century inventory ledgers from Wielkopolska with special emphasis placed on formations with -ę and -ak

• Description:
  This analysis pertains to two formants: -ę (older) and -ak (younger), competing in names of immature creatures as well as the spread of the latter at the expense of the former. The research material has never been used before in analyses of the history of the above mentioned suffixes (the source being inventory ledgers from Wielkopolska manor land estates from the second half of the 18th century). They served as the basis for creating a map of the occurrence of formations with the suffixes in question. The ledger content was compared against general Polish dictionaries (Linde’s and the so-called Warsaw dictionary) to indicate possible variations in the Polish language spoken at that time in Wielkopolska. The article finishes with a reference to the provided explanations why -ę was replaced by -ak and an attempt at providing new interpretations.;
  Analiza dotyczy dwóch konkurencyjnych wśród nazw istot niedorosłych formantów: -ę (starszy) i -ak (młodszy) oraz szerzenia się drugiego kosztem pierwszego. Badano materiał dotąd niewykorzystywany w rozważaniach nad historią wymienionych sufiksów (wielkopolskie inwentarze dóbr szlacheckich z 2. poł. XVIII w.). Na ich podstawie stworzono mapę przedstawiającą występowanie formacjiz omawianymi sufiksami. Porównano stan z inwentarzy ze słownikami polszczyzny ogólnej (Lindego i tzw. warszawskim), by wskazać ewentualne odmienności ówczesnej polszczyzny Wielkopolski. Artykuł zamyka przywołanie dotychczasowych koncepcji wyjaśniających zastępowanie -ę przez -ak oraz próba dodania nowych eksplikacji.
