The article presents a multifaceted reflection on the nature of foreign language learning in the context of the development of Polish glottodidactics from its origins to the present day. The author analyzes the human being as a communicating entity (homo communicans), for whom language learning forms part of interaction with the environment and culture. The text outlines the foundations of glottodidactics as a science of teaching and learning foreign languages, tracing its evolution from Ludwik Zabrocki’s cybernetic- codematic framework to contemporary interdisciplinary research. It discusses the communicative and constructivist approaches, the changing roles of teachers and learners, and the necessity of developing a coherent metatheoretical framework for glottodidactics as an autonomous academic discipline.;
Artykuł przedstawia wieloaspektowe rozważania dotyczące istoty uczenia się języków nierodzimych w świetle rozwoju polskiej glottodydaktyki od jej powstania po współczesność. Autorka analizuje człowieka jako istotę komunikującą się (homo communicans), dla której uczenie się języków stanowi element relacji z otoczeniem i kultury. W tekście omówiono podstawowe założenia glottodydaktyki jako nauki o nauczaniu i uczeniu się języków nierodzimych, zarysowano jej genezę (od koncepcji Ludwika Zabrockiego po współczesne kierunki badawcze), a także wskazano na jej interdyscyplinarny charakter oraz aktualne wyzwania dydaktyczne. Artykuł podkreśla znaczenie komunikacyjnego i konstruktywistycznego podejścia w procesie nauczania, rolę nauczyciela i ucznia jako równorzędnych uczestników aktu dydaktycznego oraz potrzebę wypracowania spójnej metateoretycznej podstawy dla glottodydaktyki jako samodzielnej dyscypliny naukowej.
