  This article examines selected aspects of Edith Stein’s reflection on the human person, with particular attention to human nature and the call to bear witness to the truth. Stein affirms the threefold dimension of the human being as a unity of body, soul, and spirit, and characterizes each of these elements. According to her, every person is called to know the truth and to bear witness to it both through actions and by orienting one’s life toward God. ‘God is the supreme, the only Truth, and everyone seeks Him, even if they do not know that He is God’, wrote Edith Stein. Her life offers a striking example of this search, for she tirelessly pursued truth: first in philosophy, especially in the methods of phenomenology, and ultimately in God — discovered through her encounter with the Autobiography of St Teresa of Ávila. Having exclaimed, ‘This is the truth!’, she dedicated herself entirely to God, bearing witness to Him in the Carmelite order, where she continued her work until her arrest and eventual martyrdom in Auschwitz. Her life remains a testimony for many showing that ‘whoever seeks, finds’ (cf. Mt 7:7), and that God, as a loving Father, comes to meet His children.;
  Artykuł koncentruje się na wybranych aspektach badań Edyty Stein dotyczących człowieka, zwłaszcza jego natury oraz wezwania do dawania świadectwa prawdzie. Niemiecka filozofka przyjmuje potrójny wymiar ludzkiej osobowości jako jedność ciała, duszy i ducha, charakteryzując każdy z tych elementów. Według niej każdy człowiek jest wezwany do poznania prawdy i do dawania jej świadectwa przez swoje czyny oraz odniesienie swojego życia do Boga. „Bóg jest najwyższą, jedyną Prawdą i wszyscy Go szukają, nawet jeśli nie wiedzą, że On jest Bogiem” — napisała Edyta Stein, która sama jest jasnym przykładem tych poszukiwań, gdyż przez całe swoje życie poszukiwała prawdy: w filozofii, zwłaszcza w metodach fenomenologii, a znalazła ją w Bogu, po przeczytaniu autobiografii św. Teresy z Ávili, kiedy to wykrzyknęła słynne: „To prawda!”. Od tego momentu poświęciła się tej Prawdzie i dała o Niej pełne świadectwo. Dokonało się to szczególnie w Karmelu, gdzie kontynuowała swoje dzieła aż do momentu aresztowania, a dalej jako męczennica, umierając w komorze gazowej w Auschwitz. Jej przykład jest świadectwem dla wielu ludzi, pokazującym, że kto szuka, znajdzie (por. Mt 7,7), a także że Bóg jest miłującym Ojcem, który wychodzi na spotkanie swoim umiłowanym dzieciom.
