  Religion and Religiosity in the Process of Resocialization in Polish Resocialization Thought of the 21st Century: A Review of the Scope of the Literature

  For a long time, religion and religiosity did not have a place in the sphere of pedagogy and social rehabilitation. On the one hand, there is a visible retreat from incorporating religion into education and a general decline in religious practice, but on the other hand, there is a renaissance and increased interest in religion and its educational potential. The aim of the article is to analyze the role of religion and religiousness in the process of social rehabilitation through a literature review. The theoretical section outlines the basic concepts of social rehabilitation and the importance of religion and religiosity as a factor that supports the transformation of individuals at risk of social exclusion. The article uses a literature review method to analyze research published between 2000 and 2025. In the course of the analysis, three main topics emerged: the religiosity of criminals, the role of the chaplain and prison ministry, and personal religious conversion. The findings indicate a lack of a comprehensive approach or in-depth analysis of the relationship between religion, religiosity, and rehabilitation, especially in terms of empirical research. Although religion and religiosity have values that can be useful in the rehabilitation process, further research should be conducted to supplement knowledge and develop effective methods for their integration into work with individuals in conflict with the law.;
  Religia i religijność długo nie znajdowały miejsca w przestrzeni pedagogicznej i resocjalizacyjnej. Z jednej strony widoczny jest odwrót od wykorzystywania religii w wychowaniu i ogólny regres praktyk religijnych, jednak z drugiej strony obserwuje się renesans i zwiększone zainteresowanie religią i jej potencjałem wychowawczym. Celem artykułu jest analiza roli religii i religijności w procesie resocjalizacji z wykorzystaniem metody przeglądu zakresu literatury. W części teoretycznej przedstawiono podstawowe koncepcje resocjalizacji oraz znaczenie religii i religijności jako czynnika wspierającego proces przemiany jednostek zagrożonych wykluczeniem społecznym. W artykule zastosowano metodę przeglądu zakresu literatury, koncentrując się na analizie badań opublikowanych w latach 2000–2025. W toku analizy wyłoniono trzy główne tematy występujące w prezentowanych badaniach: religijność przestępców, rola kapelana i duszpasterstwa więziennego oraz indywidualne nawrócenie. Wyniki wskazują na brak całościowego ujęcia i opracowania relacji religii, religijności i resocjalizacji, szczególnie w warstwie badań empirycznych. Mimo że religia i religijność mają walory, które mogą być użyteczne w procesie resocjalizacji, to jednak należy prowadzić dalsze badania mające na celu uzupełnienie wiedzy oraz wypracowanie skutecznych metod ich akceptacji przez osoby wchodzące w konflikt z prawem.
