  The article presents the circumstances of the 1926 coup d’etat in Lithuania, the events preceding the coup, his course, but also the consequences. The focus is primarily on the legal aspects, like functioning in practice the democratic constitution of 1922. The article is the Urst in a series of three. In the following will be presented next Basic Law –adopted by President A. Smetona in 1928, another constitution of 1938 and the general system of government by Lithuanian nationalists.;
  Artykuł przybliża okoliczności i skutki zamachu stanu na Litwie w 1926 r. Przedstawione zostały wydarzenia poprzedzające zamach, jego przebieg, ale także bezpośrednie następstwa. Skoncentrowano się przede wszystkim na prawnych aspektach. Oceniono m.in. funkcjonowanie w praktyce demokratycznej konstytucji z 1922 r. Artykuł jest pierwszym z cyklu trzech. Wkolejnych przedstawiona zostanie następna ustawa zasadnicza – przyjęta przez prezydenta A. Smetonę w 1928 r., kolejna konstytucja z 1938 r. i generalnie system sprawowania władzy przez litewskich narodowców.
