  The image of the throne is one of the most important literary motifs in the Book of Revelation. Indeed, the word „throne” is used there 47 times. Nevertheless, the term does not always convey the same meaning. In addition to the throne of God itself there are other expressions such as the throne of Satan or the throne of the beast, which figuratively convey opposing potentialities. In the Book of Revelation the image of the throne refers above all to the throne on which God and the Lamb – Jesus Christ are seated. Such an image indicates divine dominion over the whole world and salvation history, as well as the transcendence of God. This is what confronts us, too, in many Old Testament texts where the prophets describe theophanies. In the Book of Revelation, however, the image of the throne is above all a New Testament message indicating man’s place of encounter with God. Indeed, men have immediate access to God thanks to Christ who is seated at the right hand of the Father on the throne of God. The objective of our study is to demonstrate how this expression in the Book of Revelation refers initially to the throne as an expression of the transcendence of God yet arrives at the throne as the immediate presence of God in the midst of his people.;
  Obraz tronu w Apokalipsie jest jednym z ważniejszych motywów literackich ostatniej księgi Pisma Świętego. Wystarczy powiedzieć, że słowo tron występuje w niej aż 47 razy. Nie zawsze jednak chodzi o to samo, gdyż oprócz obrazu tronu Bożego, pojawia się w niej np. tron Szatana czy bestii na oznaczenie potęg wrogich Bożemu panowaniu. Najczęstszym obrazem Apokalipsy jest jednak obraz tronu, na którym oprócz samego Boga zasiada także Baranek, czyli Jezus Chrystus. Celem takiego obrazu tronu Boga i Baranka jest ukazanie Bożego panowania nad światem i jego losami oraz Bożej transcendencji, o czym świadczy wiele starotestamentowych odniesień do opisanych przez proroków teofanii. Ale obraz tronu w Apokalipsie zawiera w sobie także nowotestamentowe przesłanie tronu jako miejsca niezwykłej relacji Boga z ludźmi, którzy w Chrystusie osiągnąwszy zbawienie mają do Niego bezpośredni przystęp. Takie jest również przesłanie tego studium, w którym ukazano przemianę obrazu tronu w Apokalipsie od tronu jako miejsca transcendentnej obecności Boga aż po tron jako miejsce Jego stałej i bezpośredniej obecności pośród swego ludu.
