  The environmental issues and human responsibility in the use of resources and environmental sustainability have become increasingly relevant and pressing due to the accelerated pace of industrialization and urbanization, and the growth of the world population. The lack of adequate planning dampens the impact on the environment, leading to the depletion of natural resources and environmental degradation, generating social and economic inequalities. In this context, the global community has to deal with countless commitments in their attempt to ensure a fair distribution of resources and opportunities. The thought of Thomas Aquinas, and its interpretation by contemporary thinkers, propose ethical principles that derive from the natural world itself and guide human behavior towards the realization of the common good, with significant implications for environmental ethics. The idea that the natural world exists for the benefit of all human beings, and that it is human responsibility to use it in a way that promotes the common good, remains a timely and valuable perspective in current discussions about ecological responsibility;
  La problemática ambiental y la responsabilidad humana en el uso de recursos y sostenimiento ambiental se han vuelto cada vez más relevantes y apremiantes debido al acelerado ritmo de industrialización y urbanización, y al crecimiento de la población mundial. La falta de planeación adecuada amortigua el impacto en el entorno, lo que conlleva al agotamiento de los recursos naturales y la degradación del ambiente, generando desigualdades sociales y económicas. En este contexto, la comunidad mundial tiene que lidiar con sinnúmero de compromisos en su intento por garantizar una distribución justa de los recursos y las oportunidades. El pensamiento de Aquino en su doctrina y la lectura que de él han hechos pensadores contemporáneos, proponen principios éticos que se derivan del propio mundo natural y que guían el comportamiento humano hacia la realización del bien común, con implicaciones significativas para la ética medioambiental. La idea de que el mundo natural existe para beneficio de todos los seres humanos, y que es responsabilidad humana utilizarlo de forma que promueva el bien común, sigue siendo una perspectiva oportuna y valiosa en los actuales planteamientos sobre la responsabilidad ecológica.;
  Problemy środowiska naturalnego i odpowiedzialność człowieka w korzystaniu z jego zasobów oraz zrównoważony rozwój stają się coraz bardziej istotne i naglące ze względu na szybki proces industrializacji i urbanizacji oraz wzrost populacji na świecie. Brak odpowiedniego planowania osłabia wpływ na środowisko naturalne, prowadząc do wyczerpania zasobów i degradację przyrody, generując nierówności społeczne i ekonomiczne. W tym kontekście ludzkość musi radzić sobie z licznymi zobowiązaniami podejmowanymi w celu sprawiedliwego podziału zasobów i możliwości. Myśl Tomasza z Akwinu, wyrażona w jego doktrynie jak również analiza jego tekstów dokonana przez współczesnych myślicieli proponuje zasady etyczne, które wynikają z samego świata naturalnego i kierują ludzkie zachowanie na osiągnięcia dobra wspólnego, mające istotne znaczenie dla etyki środowiskowej. Pogląd, że świat naturalny istnieje dla dobra wszystkich ludzi i że człowiek ponosi odpowiedzialność za jego użytkowanie w sposób sprzyjający dobru wspólnemu pozostaje aktualną i cenną perspektywą w obecnych dyskusjach dotyczących odpowiedzialności ekologicznej.
