  An article proposes some rules, founded on the experience in editing Jakub Sobieski’s funeral speeches, which an editor of old secular oratory follows and a title for edited oratorical texts. A fundamental premise is: the title functioning in written speeches (handwritten and printed ones) is not an integral part of the speech – it belongs to the orality, and it appears later, only for notation. The editor’s duty is giving the title an address. This title should result from rethinking (summarily presented in the article): rules how oratorical documents had been functioning and rhetoric system influenced by Old Polish traditions.;
  W artykule przedstawiono propozycję zasad, jakimi powinien kierować się edytor dawnego świeckiego oratorstwa, i formy, jaką tytuł powinien przyjąć w edycji mów. Podstawowe założenie głosi, że tytuły występujące w zapisach mów (rękopisach i drukach) nie są integralną częścią oracji – należy ona do sfery oralności, tytuł jest nadawany później, tylko zapisowi. Obowiązkiem edytora jest nadanie mowie tytułu, który wynika z rozpoznania – przedstawionych syntetycznie w artykule – zasad funkcjonowania źródeł oratorskich i systemu retoryki związanego ze staropolską obyczajowością.
