  The article deals with the problem of the legitimization of philosophy in the mid-18th century. It discusses the main theses and postulates of the reform of philosophy in the context of the question of its usefulness for the society of that time. The main point of reference is Herder's competition text, which includes his diagnosis of the state of academic life and his program for transforming philosophy into anthropology. Moreover, the early period of his studies in Königsberg and the beginnings of his philosophical creativity are presented.;
  Artykuł dotyczy problemu legitymizacji filozofii w połowie XVIII wieku. Omawia główne tezy i postulaty reformy filozofii w kontekście pytania o jej użyteczność dla ówczesnego społeczeństwa. Głównym punktem odniesienia jest konkursowy tekst Herdera, który zawiera jego diagnozę stanu życia akademickiego oraz własny program przekształcenia filozofii w antropologię. Ponadto przedstawiony zostaje wczesny okres jego studiów w Królewcu oraz początki twórczości filozoficznej.
