Autorka prezentuje wyniki badań biograficznych i stara się udzielić odpowiedzi na pytania: Dlaczego dojrzałe kobiety zdecydowały się na studia? Jakie pobudki nimi kierowały? Autorka prezentuje również klasyfikację czynników, które mogą wpływać na podejmowanie decyzji przez osoby rozważające rozpoczęcie studiów w okresie średniej dorosłości.
