  The paper analyzes spatial distribution trends of population within the area of Wroclaw city and identifies the role of the transportation network. The analyzed transportation system is identified not only as a network of traffic connections but also as a factor influencing spatial distribution patterns of city functions, quality of life, and lifestyle preferences of city residents. The results presented in the paper, derived using the spherical projection method, illustrate the spatial relationship between population distribution in the period 1998–2010 and the accessibility of endogenous functions in the city. The results of investigation on transportation network, curried out with the use of spherical projection method are presented. The paper reveals certain spatial distribution preferences with regard to areas and directions of expansion and the results are discussed in light of contemporary quality of life theories.;
  Praca jest analiza przestrzennych trendów rozmieszczenia ludności Wrocławia i próba określenia w nich roli układu komunikacyjnego. Badany system transportowy miasta nie jest tu przedstawiony jedynie jako siec połączeń drogowych. Rzutuje on nie tylko na rozmieszczenie podstawowych funkcji miejskich, ale również na styl życia i preferencje przestrzenne mieszkańców. W pracy zastosowano i  przedstawiono wyniki projekcji sferycznej w  celu ukazania przestrzennych zależności pomiędzy rozmieszczeniem ludności w latach 1998–2010 a dostępnością do wybranych funkcji endogenicznych. Naświetlono ujawnione preferencje obszarowe i kierunkowe oraz przedyskutowano otrzymane wyniki w kontekście współczesnych modeli jakości życia mieszkańców.
