  The article focuses on the analysis of studies on Sarmatism in coursebooks for the Polish language. The author reflects on the ways of depicting cultural formation in individual titles and compares the scope of information presented by publishing houses. The analysis covers both the ways of defining Sarmatism and the coursebook instructions for source texts. The author points out that the vision of Sarmatism in high school is not homogeneous. The method of defining the phenomenon varies depending on the choices made by the authors of a given textbook. This leads to difficulties in translating this difficult issue into the language of Polish studies didactics and may result in problems with understanding its cultural specificity by students. The complex issue of tradition, discussed on the example of Sarmatism, it can become the beginning of a valuable dialogue between the present and the past of cultural heritage.
