The paper discusses the current situation of pupils with migration background in the Polish education system, based on demo-linguistic data from the 2021 Census in Poland, as well as information about non-Polish children in Polish schools. The authors emphasize the significant increase in the number of non-Polish-speaking students in recent years, while highlighting the lack of teachers’ preparedness to work in multilingual classrooms. In the second part of the article, existing legal solutions and approaches aimed at supporting the learning and social integration of these pupils are discussed. It particularly focuses on teaching Polish as the language of school education and on language-sensitive teaching. The article concludes with guidelines for working with pupils with lower proficiency in the Polish language, as well as a list of sample materials for teaching Polish and other subjects in general classes that include students with migration experience, as well as in preparatory classes.;
Artykuł omawia aktualną sytuację uczniów cudzoziemskich w polskim systemie oświaty, opierając się na danych demograficzno-językowych ze spisu powszechnego z 2021 roku oraz na informacjach dotyczących uczniów cudzoziemskich w polskich szkołach. Autorki zwracają uwagę na znaczący wzrost liczby uczniów niepolskojęzycznych w ostatnich latach przy jednoczesnym braku przygotowania nauczycieli do pracy w klasach wielojęzycznych. W drugiej części artykułu omawiane są istniejące rozwiązania prawne i podejścia dydaktyczne mające na celu wsparcie nauki i integracji społecznej tych uczniów. W szczególności skupiono się na nauczaniu języka polskiego jako języka edukacji szkolnej oraz na podstawach nauczania uwrażliwionego na język. Artykuł kończy zestawienie zasad pracy z uczniami o mniejszym stopniu zaawansowania w języku polskim oraz lista przykładowych materiałów do nauczania języka polskiego i innych przedmiotów w klasach ogólnych, które obejmują uczniów z doświadczeniem migracji, oraz w oddziałach przygotowawczych.
