  The author refers to the results of the PISA 2022 Creative Thinking Survey, published in 2024, which document the above-average perceptiveness of Polish students. The researcher argues that the findings speak not only about the predispositions of young people but may also signal the school's resistance to the formalized and didactically devoid requirements embedded in the core curriculum. Evidences supporting this thesis are interpretations of Gustav Herling-Grudzinski's short story The Tower (Wieża) made independently by graduates of various elementary schools. Numerous excerpts from the students' statements quoted in the sketch illustrate the analytical skills they have acquired and meet the criteria of creative thinking.
