  Taking power in Poland after World War II, the communists could count on the support of only a small part of Polish society. In this situation, it was indispensable to resort to social engineering activities, which were to encourage Poles to support the new authorities and the system associated with it. They were carried out on various levels, from propaganda, through manipulation, to physical repression. All major events and campaigns carried out by the communists in Poland in the years 1944–1948 had a sociotechnical dimension: the establishment of the Polish Committee of National Liberation, the celebration of national holidays, the so-called people’s referendum ’46, the elections to the Legislative Sejm ’47, or the “unification” of the workers’ movement. A comprehensive look at the indicated period leads to the conclusion that Polish society was then subjected to total social engineering.;
  Przejmując władzę w Polsce po II wojnie światowej, komuniści mogli liczyć na poparcie jedynie niewielkiej części polskiego społeczeństwa. W tej sytuacji nieodzowne było sięgnięcie do działań z zakresu inżynierii społecznej, które miały skłonić Polaków do poparcia nowych rządów i związanego z nimi ustroju. Były one prowadzone na różnych płaszczyznach – od działalności propagandowej. przez manipulacje. po fizyczne represje. Socjotechniczny wymiar miały wszystkie ważniejsze wydarzenia i kampanie zrealizowane przez komunistów w Polsce w latach 1944–1948: utworzenie Polskiego Komitetu Wyzwolenia Narodowego, obchody świąt państwowych, tzw. referendum ludowe ’46, wybory do Sejmu Ustawodawczego ’47 czy „zjednoczenie” ruchu robotniczego. Całościowe spojrzenie na wskazany okres skłania do konstatacji, że polskie społeczeństwo zostało wówczas poddane socjotechnice totalnej.
