  The article presents research and its results aiming at an attempt to systematise knowledge and experience on functional and spatial structure models as new elements of voivodeship development strategies in Poland. The article presents the new legal regulations in Poland and the state of the existing theoretical knowledge on such models, followed by an analysis of the available, existing voivodeship development strategies in Poland. It was pointed out that the concept of functional and spatial structure model is not a new one. So far, however, this concept has occurred more often within spatial, normative planning than strategic planning. The takeover of the concept of the model by strategic planning is an attempt to integrate spatial planning more closely with strategic planning. The new development strategies are intended to fulfill the objectives of closer integration and coherence of the system of new spatial planning acts. However, this integration should not only consist in the integration of normative and strategic planning. It should integrate, first and foremost, the actions taken by planning actors and originators up to now within different fields and domains. This type of integration can be called horizontal. However, the strategy should also fulfill the objectives of vertical integration, i.e. one in which the activities of development policy actors at different levels will be made coherent. A special place in this system will be occupied by the voivodeship development strategy together with its integral element – the model of the functional and spatial structure. On the basis of an attempt to systematise the existing knowledge and an analysis of the existing provincial development strategies, two basic types of structure models were identified: a static-subject model and a dynamic-entity model. These models can be recognized as certain extreme models. The most frequently used type of model will certainly be their variant – a hybrid model, combining some features of one and the other type.The article concludes with some recommendations for further research and the search for optimal forms of models at regional scales.;
  Artykuł prezentuje badania, których celem była próba systematyzacji wiedzy i doświadczeń na temat modeli struktury funkcjonalno-przestrzennej jako nowych elementów strategii rozwoju województw. W artykule dokonano przeglądu stanu prawnego oraz stanu wiedzy teoretycznej na temat modeli, a następnie przeprowadzono analizę dostępnych, obowiązujących strategii rozwoju województw w Polsce. Na podstawie próby systematyki wiedzy oraz analizy zidentyfikowano dwa typy modeli struktury: model statyczno-przedmiotowy oraz dynamiczno-podmiotowy oraz ich pewne odmiany pośrednie – modele hybrydowe. Artykuł kończą wnioski w postaci rekomendacji do dalszych badań oraz poszukiwań optymalnych form modeli w skalach regionalnych.
