Autor przeprowadził badania na kregosłupach 36 żubrów różnego wieku i płci (tab. 1); kośćce tych zwierząt znajdują się w Ośrodku Badawczym nad Anatomią Żubra w Warszawie. Większość kośćców (23) należy do żubrów nizinnych czystej krwi, 13 natomiast do tzw. linii kaukaskiej, z domieszką krwi żubra górskiego. W pracy dokonano w pierwszym rzędzie szczegółowej analizy opisowej poszczególnych odcinków kregosłupa żubra, a następnie poddano odpowiednim pomiarom wszystkie kręgi.;
