  The present study complements the existing knowledge about the exile of the bishops of Katowice in the years 1952 – 56. Based on unknown  materials from the archives of the Vatican Secretariat of State, the author presents mechanisms of receiving information about the situation in Silesia at a time when official means of communication were difficult and controlled by the communist authorities. He reveals to the readers the backstage of the actions taken by the Holy See in relation to the chapter curates imposed by the communist authorities.   Abstrakt Niniejsze opracowanie stanowi uzupełnienie dotychczasowej wiedzy na temat wygnania biskupów katowickich w latach 1952-56. Autor w oparciu o nieznane materiały z archiwum Watykańskiego Sekretariatu Stanu przedstawia mechanizmy otrzymywania informacji na temat sytuacji na Śląsku w czasie kiedy oficjalne środki komunikacji były  utrudnione i kontrolowane przez władze komunistyczne. Odsłania czytelnikom kulisy podejmowanych przez Stolicę Świętą działań w stosunku do narzuconych przez władze PRL-u wikariuszy kapitulnych.
