  The article offers a comparative analysis of three madrigals: Baciator dubbioso by Giambattista Marino, Irresoluto by Jan Andrzej Morsztyn (the paraphrase/translation of Marino’s text) and Vorrei baciarti o Filli... by Claudio Monteverdi (the musical adaptation of Marino’s poem). The aim of this paper is to investigate how the madrigal, as both a poetical and musical genre, implements some concepts of classical rhetoric, related to inventio, distributio and decoratio (elocutio).;
  Artykuł zawiera analizę porównawczą trzech madrygałów: Baciator dubbioso Giambattisty Marina, Irresoluto Jana Andrzeja Morsztyna (który jest parafrazą – tłumaczeniem tekstu Marina) oraz Vorrei baciarti, o Filli… Claudia Monteverdiego (muzycznego opracowania poematu Marina). Celem artykułu jest prześledzenie, w jaki sposób madrygał, jako gatunek poetycki i muzyczny zarazem, realizuje pewne założenia retoryki klasycznej, związane ze sferami inventio, distributio oraz decoratio (elocutio).
