  The article is an attempt at identification of the institution of king among Lusatian  culture societies inhabiting Pomerania at the end of the Bronze Age. That institution, well recognized among Indo-European peoples, was widely spread among them. Besides political power, it held substantial religious and ceremonial significance, which exceeded its supreme authority. Despite the lack of clear evidence of such an institution, in the Lusatian culture, we can find its traces in the mythical and ethnoarchaeological interpretations of some hoards. Hoards containing swords covered by huge boulders refer to a mythical scheme which connects swords, stones and kingship, known from a wide variety of mythologies such as the Greek myth of Theseus or Arthurian legends and from the Germanic Volsung Saga. By interpreting such deposits as the vestige of ritual activities connected with royal power, we can assume the presence of such institutions in Lusatian culture.;
  Artykuł jest próbą identyfikacji instytucji króla w społeczności kultury łużyckiej, odmiennie niż w klasycznym rozumieniu jawiącej się jako funkcja ceremonialno-magiczna, a nie polityczna. Osoby o takim statusie istniały wśród społeczeństw indoeuropejskich, co potwierdzają źródła leksykalne i historyczne.Poniższe rozważania pragnę oprzeć na mityczno-etnoarcheologicznej interpretacji znalezisk gromadnych zawierających miecze i zdeponowanych pod głazami.Poprzez swój kontekst nawiązują one do znanych z mitologii i przekazów historycznych schematów łączących ten rodzaj uzbrojenia z kamieniami i władzą. Zakładając, że pradziejowe struktury społeczne były oparte na ówczesnych systemach wierzeniowych oraz że depozycja przedmiotów metalowych miała swoje rytualne uzasadnienie, sądzimy, iż zjawiska te można łączyć z obrzędami powiązanymi z instytucją króla.
