  The article explores political culture as a complex and multifaceted concept whose meaning has evolved throughout history – from antiquity to modern times. The first part presents the philosophical and historical foundations of reflection on political culture – from the ideas found in the thought of Thucydides, Cicero, Machiavelli, Hobbes, and More, to the concepts of modern political philosophers. The next section discusses the development of the concept of political culture in the social sciences, with particular attention to the approach of Gabriel Almond and Bingham Powell, as well as attempts to classify definitions according to various criteria. The following part analyzes the Polish tradition of research on political culture – from the 17th century to the second half of the 20th century – highlighting the important contributions of selected Polish scholars. The final section addresses the contemporary significance of political culture in the context of representative democracy and civil rights.;
  Artykuł podejmuje temat kultury politycznej jako pojęcia złożonego i wieloaspektowego, którego znaczenie ewoluowało na przestrzeni dziejów – od starożytności po czasy współczesne. W pierwszej części przedstawiono filozoficzne i historyczne źródła refleksji nad kulturą polityczną – od idei obecnych w myśli Tukidydesa, Cycerona, Machiavellego, Hobbesa czy Morea, aż po koncepcje nowożytnych filozofów polityki. Następnie omówiono rozwój tego pojęcia w naukach społecznych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ujęcia Gabriela Almonda i Binghama Powella oraz prób klasyfikacji definicji według różnych kryteriów. W kolejnej części dokonano analizy polskiej tradycji badań nad kulturą polityczną – od XVII w. po drugą połowę XX w., wskazując na kluczowy wkład wybranych polskich autorów w rozwój tego zagadnienia. Ostatnia część tekstu poświęcona została współczesnemu znaczeniu kultury politycznej w kontekście funkcjonowania demokracji przedstawicielskiej i praw obywatelskich.
