  In recent years, the demographic situation in the Polish society, has undergone significant changes. The average life expectancy has increased, resulting in an increase in the number of people in the post-working age. Due to the need to provide the elderly with the means to meet their living needs, discussions are being held on which civil law institutions can meet this objective. According to the author of the article, such institutions are considered to be life estate and a reverse mortgage. Both these institutions serve to release the “accumulated” capital in real estate, which may constitute an additional source of income for the elderly.;
  W ostatnich latach sytuacja demograficzna polskiego społeczeństwa ulega istotnym zmianom. Wydłuża się przeciętna długość życia, powodując wzrost liczby osób w wieku poprodukcyjnym. Ze względu na konieczność zapewnienia osobom starszym środków na zaspokojenie ich potrzeb życiowych, trwają dyskusje na temat tego, które instytucje cywilnoprawne mogą spełnić powyższy cel. W przekonaniu autora artykułu za takie instytucje uznać należy dożywocie oraz odwróconą hipotekę. Obydwie te instytucje służą uwolnieniu kapitału „zakumulowanego” w nieruchomościach, który stanowić może dodatkowe źródło dochodu dla osób starszych.
