  Das 15. Jahrhundert begann mit einem „Staatsstreich“: Im Frühjahr des Jahres 1401 nahmen ungarische Adelige ihren König, Sigismund von Luxemburg (1387–1437), gefangen. Die in dieser unerhörten Tat zum Ausdruck kommende Unzufriedenheit hatte mehrere Gründe: Der desaströse „Türkenzug“ (die Niederlage in der Schlacht bei Nikopolis 1396), innenpolitische Unruhen und nicht zuletzt die Auseinandersetzung darüber, wie das Reich zu lenken sei. Entsprechend beriefen sich die rebellierenden Adeligen auf die Idee corona regni und begründeten damit ihren Anspruch im Namen des Königreiches auch über die Person des Monarchen hinaus zu handeln. Ausgehend von dieser „Inhaftierungs-Krise“ nimmt der Beitrag zentrale Reformdebatten sowie politische Auseinandersetzungen zwischen 1385 und 1403 in den Blick und will damit grundlegende Entwicklungsprozesse im Königreich Ungarn um 1400 verständlich machen.;
  The 15th century began with a “coup d'état“: In spring 1401 Sigismund of Luxemburg, the King of Hungary (1387–1437), was caught and imprisoned by a group of Hungarian nobles. There are various answers as to the questions of “who” and “why”: among the reasons for the rebellion were probably the disastrous loss of the battle of Nicopolis, internal unrest and, last but not least, the severe debates about who should be responsible to take over governmental tasks. Consequently, a council of nobles was established in order to decide upon political matters within the realm; it justified its engagement with references to the corona regni, thereby claiming to act on behalf of the realm even without the king. Taking the “crisis of Sigismund’s imprisonment” as a starting point, my contribution focuses on essential reform debates and political disputes between 1385 and 1403. It thereby attempts to explain the pivotal socio-political developments within the Hungarian Kingdom around the year 1400.;
  XV stulecie rozpoczęło się zamachem: wiosną 1401 roku szlachta węgierska uwięziła króla Zygmunta Luksemburskiego (1387–1437). Niezadowolenie, które wyraziło się poprzez ten niesłychany czyn, miało wiele przyczyn: katastrofa krucjaty antytureckiej (zakończonej kląską pod Nikopolis w 1396 roku) oraz niepokoje wewnętrzne, w szczególności konflikty dotyczące kierunku polityki Królestwa. Zbuntowane rycerstwo powoływało się na ideę corona regni, uzasadniając swoje poczynania dobrem Królestwa, także ponad osobą monarchy. W artykule podjęto temat debat reformatorskich oraz politycznych sporów w latach 1385–1403, starając się wyjaśnić przy tym główne przyczyny procesów zachodzących około 1400 roku w Królestwie Węgier.
