  The aim of the article was to present the position of the Polish People’s Republic towards establishing arrangements in the European Economic Community in the years 1946–1987. The article verified the following hypotheses: after the second World War II, in connection with this caused and the development phase of the “Cold War”, which is attacked by the USA in the Middle East, and from a private eastern point of view, was treated as the south-eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance; – the obstacles to strengthening cooperation between Ankara and Brussels were: an unstable political system in Turkey, coup, and the change of government from civilian to military; – For the Polish People’s Republic, Turkey’s membership is more important in NATO, instead of Ankara’s cooperation and integration with the EEC.;
  Zasadniczym celem artykułu było przedstawienie stanowiska Polski Ludowej (PRL) wobec starań Turcji o członkostwo w Europejskiej Wspólnocie Gospodarczej w latach 1946–1987. W artykule zweryfikowano hipotezy: po zakończeniu II wojny światowej, w obliczu zagrożenia radzieckiego oraz faz rozwoju „zimnej wojny” Turcja stała się czołowym punktem strategii USA na Bliskim Wschodzie i z punktu widzenia bloku wschodniego była traktowana jako południowo-wschodnia flanka Sojuszu Północnoatlantyckiego; – przeszkodą na drodze do zacieśnienia współpracy między Ankarą z Brukselą były: niestabilna sytuacja polityczna w Turcji, częste zamachy stanu w kraju oraz zmiany rządów z cywilnych na wojskowe; – dla Polski Ludowej (PRL) większe zagrożenie stanowiło członkostwo Turcji w NATO, aniżeli współpraca i integracja Ankary z EWG.
