  The article presents the meaning of a book for children and young adults as an important element of aesthetic education. An important mediator in this process are contemporary Polish publishers, who after the years of the “flood” of the last decade of the 20th century significantly contributed to raising the artistic level of published titles and renewing the book art for the young audience. A significant influence on the change of the publishing repertoire for children and young adults was exerted primarily by small, independent publishing houses, which not only were the first to dare to return to good editorial practices, but also, thanks to their actions and successes, influenced the practices of large publishing houses, which decided to expand their offer with slightly more ambitious titles. Thanks to this, young readers now find books designed and illustrated by renowned Polish and foreign artists, as well as talented newcomers. Through them, children have a chance to get in touch with art and experience beautiful books. Another important trend in the activity of contemporary publishers are books for children and young adults introducing the audience to the world of art. The “Mały Koneser” series published by Dwie Siostry is worth mentioning. It did not achieve a spectacular market success, but is a proof of how original initiatives are taken by contemporary publishers in order to stimulate the aesthetic sensitivity of young readers.;
  W artykule przedstawiono znaczenie książki dla dzieci i młodzieży jako istotnego elementu wychowania estetycznego. Ważnym pośrednikiem w tym procesie są współcześni polscy wydawcy, którzy po latach „potopu” ostatniej dekady ubiegłego wieku znacznie przyczynili się do podniesienia poziomu artystycznego wydawanych tytułów i odnowienia sztuki książki dla młodego odbiorcy. Istotny wpływ na zmianę repertuaru wydawniczego dla dzieci i młodzieży wywarły przede wszystkim małe, niezależne oficyny, które nie tylko jako pierwsze odważyły się powrócić do dobrych praktyk edytorskich, ale także, dzięki swoim działaniom i sukcesom, wpłynęły na praktyki dużych domów wydawniczych, które zdecydowały się poszerzyć swoją ofertę o bardziej ambitne tytuły. Dzięki temu do rąk młodych czytelników trafiają dzisiaj książki zaprojektowane i zilustrowane przez uznanych polskich i zagranicznych artystów, a także utalentowanych debiutantów. Za ich pośrednictwem dzieci mają szansę obcowania z piękną książką. Drugim ważnym nurtem działalności współczesnych wydawców są książki dla dzieci i młodzieży wprowadzające odbiorców w świat sztuki. Na uwagę zasługuje seria „Mały Koneser” wydana przez Dwie Siostry, która nie odniosła spektakularnego sukcesu rynkowego, ale jest dowodem na to, jak oryginalne inicjatywy podejmują współcześni wydawcy, aby rozbudzać wrażliwość estetyczną młodych czytelników.
