  While life and death are universal categories of human cognition and culture, the set of images associated with it is affected by ethnicity. These categories are not always identical and may vary from one ethnic culture to another. This article presents the images of linguistic personalities related to life and death as reflected in the opinions of speakers of the sub-dialects of northern Russia.;
  Жизнь и смерть – универсальные категории человеческого сознания и культуры, однако комплекс представлений, связанных с ними, этноспецифичен. В рамках культуры этноса эти категории также не абсолютно тождественны. В статье на материале говоров русского Севера рассматриваются представления языковой личности о жизни и смерти, отраженные в ее суждениях и высказываниях.
