  The article is devoted to comprehending identity in contemporary Ukrainian prose about the Soviet past. Using the example of Nina Kuryata’s novel Dzvinka, a Ukrainian born in the USSR, the author examines the reproduction of worldview confrontations between a “Soviet” (a representative of the unified Soviet population) and a Ukrainian with a national self-identity. It is indicated that the conflict of the work is based on the “doublethink” that divided the perception of the world between the official and personal truth in the USSR, and its consequence – “nothingness”, indifference. The essence of these processes can be seen in the structure of the novel’s imagery and content. Its components are “society” and “family”. The wars of consciousness take place around the concepts of life: homeland, spirituality, songwriting, holidays, language. The researcher points out that the forces of confrontation are equally important and each of them influences the formation of worldviews. It is emphasized that the main subject in the conflict of consciousness’s of the totalitarian world is language. The author believes that it is language that determines Dzvinka’s unwillingness to get rid of the burden of the “scoop”, although she tries to identify herself as Ukrainian. It is noted that the wars of consciousness have become a consequence of the wars of memories in modern realities.;
  Artykuł poświęcony jest kwestii tożsamości we współczesnej ukraińskiej prozie traktującej o sowieckiej przeszłości. Na przykładzie powieści Niny Kuriaty Dzwinka. Ukrainka urodzona w ZSRR autorka bada konfrontacje światopoglądowe między „Sowietem” (obywatelem Związku Radzieckiego) a Ukraińcem o narodowej tożsamości. Wskazuje się, że konflikt opiera się na „dwójmyśleniu”, które w ZSRR dzieliło postrzeganie świata na prawdę oficjalną i własną, a jego konsekwencją była „nicość”, obojętność jednostki. Istotę tych procesów można dostrzec w strukturze obrazów i treści utworu. Jego elementami są „społeczeństwo” i „rodzina”. Wojna świadomości toczy się wokół pojęć życiowych: ojczyzny, duchowości, pieśniarstwa, święta, języka. Badaczka zaznacza, że siły konfrontacji są równie ważne i każda z nich wpływa na kształtowanie się światopoglądu bohaterów. Podkreśla, że głównym podmiotem konfliktu w tym zakresie jest język. Autorka uważa, że to właśnie język determinuje niechęć Dzwinki do pozbycia się ciężaru „sowka”, choć stara się identyfikować jako Ukrainka. Zauważa się, że we współczesnych realiach wojna świadomości stała się konsekwencją wojny pamięci.
