In the course of history, the Polish Library POSK in London has produced various materials such as printed matter of community life, i.e. so-called DŻS (leaflets, posters, invitations), scripts (typescripts, computer printouts, duplicated materials), periodical publications, monographs and exhibition catalogues. The author discusses the publishing activity of the Polish Library in Polish Social and Cultural Association in London. First of all, he presents the historical and legal complexity of the working of the institution since the Second World War to the present day. Secondly, he shows its character, especially in terms of publishing matters, with some associated problems. He describes crucial periodical publications and monographs, such as scripts, bibliographies or catalogues, and discusses in detail some Polish-English and English-Polish titles as well as all publishing information concerning them. The aspect of poor quality of the scripts is emphasized and presented as the result of the Polish Library financial problems. Second part of the article refers to the publication released in London under “the Polish Library” name. The author conducts an academic inquiry, showing his private publishing activity with the name “the Polish Library” The publication of monographs by the Polish Library has always been extraordinary and connected with art exhibitions, jubilees or some crucial publishing reasons. In this respect, the personal involvement of the directors or the library workers proved to be invaluable.;
Biblioteka Polska w Londynie na przestrzeni swoich dziejów wytwarzała różnego typu materiały drukowane. Jednym z nich są druki życia społecznego, czyli tzw. DŻS-y (ulotki, plakaty, zaproszenia), skrypty (maszynopisy, wydruki komputerowe, materiały powielane), wydawnictwa periodyczne, druki zwarte oraz katalogi wystaw. W artykule została omówiona działalność wydawnicza Biblioteki Polskiej Polskiego Ośrodka Społeczno-Kulturalnego w Londynie. Najpierw przedstawia się złożoność historyczną i prawną działania tej instytucji od czasów drugiej wojny światowej aż do chwili obecnej. Następnie prezentuje się jej specyfikę, szczególnie wydawniczą, i związane z tym problemy. Następnie zostały opisane ważne publikacje periodyczne i zwarte, w tym skrypty, bibliografie i katalogi. Wymienia się szczegółowo podwójne polsko-angielskie lub angielsko-polskie tytuły oraz wszelkie informacje wydawnicze danych pozycji. Podkreśla się także słabą jakość skryptów jako rezultat wydawniczy finansowych problemów Biblioteki Polskiej.Druga część artykułu dotyczy publikacji wydanych w Londynie pod szyldem „Biblioteki Polskiej”, lecz nie firmowanej przez londyńską książnicę. Autor przeprowadza śledztwo naukowe, wykazując prywatne działanie wydawnicze z nazwą „Biblioteka Polska”. Wydawanie druków zwartych przez Bibliotekę Polską zawsze było wyjątkowe. Najczęstszym powodem ich wydawania było też osobiste zaangażowanie się kierowników czy pracowników biblioteki.
