Finnish children’s books translated into Polish are mostly works of authors who are very poorly known in our country, but considered to be outstanding in their homeland. This can be proved by the career of Mauri Kunnas – an unknown Finnish master of illustrated books in Poland. This article is devoted to the presence of Finnish children’s literature on the Polish publishing market. It discusses its significance against the background of literature from other Scandinavian countries, presents the history of Finnish children’s publications translated into Polish and briefly characterizes the work of local writers and illustrators, as well as points out the distinguishing components of the described literature, which may prove particularly interesting for Polish book publishing houses.;
Fińskie książki dla dzieci tłumaczone na język polski to w większości dzieła autorów słabo znanych w naszym kraju, jednak uznawanych za wybitnych w swojej ojczyźnie. Może o tym świadczyć kariera Mauriego Kunnasa – nieznanego w Polsce fińskiego mistrza książki ilustrowanej. Prezentowany artykuł jest poświęcony obecności fińskiej literatury dziecięcej na polskim rynku wydawniczym. Omówiono jej znaczenie na tle literatury z pozostałych państw skandynawskich, przedstawiono historię przetłumaczonych na język polski fińskich publikacji dla dzieci i krótko scharakteryzowano twórczość tamtejszych pisarzy i ilustratorów, a także wskazano wyróżniające opisywaną literaturę komponenty, które mogą okazać się szczególnie interesujące dla polskich wydawnictw książkowych.
