  It is worth noting that some dimensions of culture emerging in South Korea in recentyears are becoming increasingly popular on a global scale. This article presents theglobal success of webtoons, Korean webcomics, as tools of soft power, indicatinga state’s ability to influence others through the attractiveness of its culture. In thiscontext, culture is understood as one of the resources of soft power, or soft power– which can play specific roles in a state’s foreign policy and, in particular, positivelycontribute to increasing the influence of such a country. Strengthening soft powerthrough the promotion of popular culture can bring such benefits. South Korea successfullypromotes its pop culture globally, generating interest from representatives of other countries. The aim of this article is to describe how Korean digital comics, webtoons, have developed over the years and analyze how webtoons have become a source for transmedia storytelling. It discusses how snack culture has contributed to the development of webtoons, transforming them into Korean TV series or films. Korean webcomics have become popular worldwide due to their accessibility to readers, diverse genres, and engaging plots. New forms of communication, advancements in transportation, and technology have revolutionized global markets and significantly increased trade, as falling costs enable smaller states and multinational corporations to engage in inexpensive and efficient exchange of goods and information (Nye, 1990, pp. 161–162).;
  Na uwagę zasługuje fakt, że niektóre wymiary kultury powstające w ostatnich latach w Korei Południowej są coraz bardziej popularne w skali światowej. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia globalny sukces webtoonów czyli koreańskich komiksów internetowych – jako narzędzi soft power, czyli zdolności państwa do wywierania wpływu na innych dzięki atrakcyjności własnej kultury. W tym ujęciu kulturę należy rozumieć jako jeden z zasobów soft power, czyli miękkiej siły – która może wypełniać określone role w polu polityki zagranicznej państwa, a w szczególności może pozytywnie realizować zadanie zwiększania wpływów takiego państwa. Wzmacnianie miękkiej siły poprzez promocję kultury popularnej może przynosić tego rodzaju korzyści. Korea Południowa z powodzeniem promuje swoją popkulturę globalnie, wzbudzając zainteresowanie przedstawicieli innych państw. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest opisanie jak rozwinęły się koreańskie komiksy cyfrowe – webtoons na przestrzeni lat oraz przeanalizowanie w jaki sposób webtoony stały się źródłem dla transmedia storytelling. Omówienie w jaki sposób snack culture przyczyniło się do rozwoju webtoonów, czyli o przekształceniu webtoonu w koreański serial lub film. Koreańskie komiksy internetowe stały się popularne na całym świecie, dzięki dobrej dostępności dla czytelników, różnorodnym gatunkom i wciągającej fabule. Nowe sposoby komunikacji, rozwój transportu i technologii zrewolucjonizowały światowe rynki i radykalnie zwiększyły handel, ponieważ spadające koszty umożliwiają mniejszym państwom i ponadnarodowym korporacjom tanią i wydajną wymianę towarów i informacji (Nye, 1990, s. 161–162).
