  In 1976, the authorities of the People's Republic of Poland led to the amendment of the Constitution, incorporating into it the principle of the leading role of the Communist Party and the alliance with the Soviet Union. The only member of the Sejm who did not support the amendments was an activist from the „Znak” milieu, Stanisław Stomma. The other four parliamentarians from his circle supported the amendments. The aim of this article is to analyse the attitudes of Konstanty Łubieński and Stanisław Stomma, which best exemplify the split in the „Znak” milieu. Hence, their life path and the motivations that led them to decide in favour of the amendment, and the consequences of this for them and the environment as a whole, are examined. These will be considered in the context of the conflict within the „Znak” milieu through the prism of political realism, idealism and opportunism.;
  W 1976 r. władze PRL doprowadziły do nowelizacji konstytucji, wpisując do niej zasadę przewodniej roli partii komunistycznej i sojusz ze Związkiem Sowieckim. Jedynym posłem na Sejm, który nie poparł poprawek, był działacz środowiska „Znak”, Stanisław Stomma. Pozostali czterej parlamentarzyści z jego koła poprawki poparli. Celem artykułu jest analiza najlepiej egzemplifikujących rozłam w środowisku „Znak” postaw Konstantego Łubieńskiego i Stanisława Stommy. Stąd też badaniu zostały poddane ich droga życiowa i motywacje, które skłoniły ich do podjęcia decyzji w sprawie poparcia nowelizacji, oraz konsekwencje tego dla nich i całego środowiska. Zostaną one rozpatrzone w kontekście konfliktu w środowisku „Znak” przez pryzmat politycznego realizmu, ideowości i oportunizmu.
