  Museums are not only about objects and people, but also about the places they are associated with. Museum of the Earth of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw is housed in two buildings with a unique history. Situated on the Vistula escarpment, the buildings inspire reflection on the history of the Frascati garden and the architectural activity of Bohdan Pniewski. Above all, they recall the history of two institutions, the Branicki Museum, which gave rise to the State Natural History Museum and the Museum of the Earth. The former was destroyed during World War II and disappeared from public consciousness along with its collection. The second, despite its destruction, was reactivated after 1945 thanks to the determination of Stanisław Małkowski. The aim of this article is to recall the history of these intuitions and the buildings connecting them, which are an excellent example of a lieu de memoire of high historical and social value.  ;
  Muzea to nie tylko obiekty i ludzie, ale także miejsca, z którymi są związane. Muzeum Ziemi PAN w Warszawie mieści się w dwóch budynkach o wyjątkowej historii. Położone na skarpie wiślanej budowle stanowią inspirację do refleksji nad dziejami ogrodu na Frascati oraz działalności architektonicznej Bohdana Pniewskiego. Przede wszystkim przypominają dzieje dwóch instytucji, Muzeum Branickich, które dało podstawę Państwowemu Muzeum Przyrodniczemu oraz Muzeum Ziemi. Pierwsze z nich zostało zniszczone w czasie II wojny światowej, wraz z kolekcją zniknęło ono ze świadomości społecznej. Drugie, pomimo zniszczeń, dzięki determinacji Stanisława Małkowskiego zostało reaktywowane po 1945 r. Celem artykułu jest przypomnienie dziejów tych intuicji oraz łączących je budynków, które stanowią doskonały przykład lieu de memoire o wysokiej wartości historycznej i społecznej.
