  Japan is a country with a low divorce rate. This is due to the fact that the concept of 'family‘, which is more important than the bond between spouses is deeply rooted in Japanese mentality. However, the divorce rate is increasing every year. In Japan, the most common procedure of divorce is the divorce by mutual consent of spouses without a trial. In this case, relevant documents include: 'the divorce notice‘, which is comparable with the Polish divorce petition and 'the family register excerpt‘, which is an official document confirming the identity of a Japanese citizen. To translate these documents into Polish language translators need pay attention to archaic legal terms as well as differences between the structure and various elements of Polish and Japanese documents.;
   Japonia jest krajem o niskim współczynniku rozwodów. Jest to spowodowane tym, że w mentalności Japończyków głęboko zakorzenione jest pojęcie „rodu‖, który ma większe znaczenie od więzi łączącej małżonków. Jednakże wskaźnik rozwodów wzrasta z roku na rok. W Japonii, najbardzej powszechnym trybem uzyskiwania rozwodu jest rozwód za porozumieniem stron bez rozprawy sądowej. W tym przypadku, dokumenty obejmują zawiadomienie o rozwodzie, które pełni taką funkcję jak polski pozew o rozwód, oraz wyciąg z rejestru rodzinnego, który jest oficjalnym dokumentem potwierdzającym tożsamość obywatela japońskiego. Przekład tych dokumentów na język polski wymaga szczególnej uwagi ze względu na archaiczne terminy prawne oraz różnice w układzie i strukturze poszczególnych elementów polskich i japońskich dokumentówrozwodowych.
