The analysis highlights the dual identity of the author as both a reporter and a tourist, emphasizing its influence on his portrayal of life aboard the ship and the destinations visited. The account written during the voyage is compared with the account found in Wańkowicz’s memoir “Tędy i owędy”, published years later. Additionally, the reminiscences of other passengers, including Arkady Fiedler, Monika Żeromska, and Izabela Stachowicz, are used as contextual material.;
  Przedmiotem analizy jest cykl artykułów Melchiora Wańkowicza z 1936 roku, w których pisarz relacjonował uczestnictwo w pierwszym rejsie transatlantyku „Batory”. Reportaże pierwotnie ukazywały się na łamach dziennika „Czas”, a następnie zebrane zostały w książce Anoda – katoda pod wspólnym tytułem Pierwsza podroż „Batorego”. Zwrócono uwagę na podwójną tożsamość autora jako reportera i turysty, podkreślono także jej wpływ na sposób opisywania rzeczywistości pokładowej oraz odwiedzanych miejsc. Relację pisaną w trakcie rejsu zestawiono z opowieścią zawartą w wydanej po wojnie wspomnieniowej książce Wańkowicza Tędy i owędy. Jako kontekst wykorzystano wspomnienia innych uczestników rejsu – Arkadego Fiedlera, Moniki Żeromskiej czy Izabeli Stachowicz.
