  Chastity as a spiritual attitude should derive from an unadulterated look at love. Such a look makes it possible to discover that human sexuality is a natural phenomenon that is both positive and valuable. Despite the unchanging attitude of the Church towards chastity as an invaluable gift from God, in modern times, both chastity and sexual abstinence during the engagement period and in marriage evoke many negative emotions, questions and controversies. And yet, chastity is manifested in asserting control over one’s sexual drive so as to become a master of one’s self and, in consequence, to become a gift for the other spouse. These two dimensions of the integrity of a person and the integrity of the gift of self are the essential elements of what we call chastity.;
  Czystość jako postawa duchowa winna wyrastać z niczym niezafałszowanego spojrzenia na miłość. Takie spojrzenie pozwala odkrywać, że płciowość ludzka jest czymś naturalnym, pozytywnym i wartościowym. Mimo niezmiennego stanowiska Kościoła wobec czystości jako cennego daru Boga, we współczesnych czasach zarówno czystość, jak i związana z nią wstrzemięźliwość seksualna w narzeczeństwie oraz w pożyciu małżeńskim budzą wiele emocji, pytań i kontrowersji. A przecież czystość przejawia się w panowaniu człowieka nad własnym popędem tak, że staje się on panem samego siebie, a przez to potrafi być również darem dla drugiej osoby. To właśnie te dwa wymiary integralności osoby i integralności daru z siebie są istotnymi elementami tego, co nazywamy czystością.
