The article elaborates on the perception of Mark Twain’s “Adventures of Tom Sawyer” among Polish readers of all ages. The author provides arguments to support the importance of the novel in the Polish society. The book occupies a permament place among compulsory school readings, which results in the increasing number of its translations into Polish. Moreover, different realisations of this literary work available on the market are introduced. However, the key point of the study is an analysis of books with extra aids prepared and published by such publishing houses as Zielona Sowa, Skrzat, Greg and Ibis. All the parts of additional materials are examined with reference to their reliability and core curriculum guidelines. The article is to emphasise the interplay between marketing strategies of the publishers and educational values which shape a mature and conscious reader.;
W niniejszym artykule podjęto kwestię funkcjonowania różnych realizacji przekładu powieści Marka Twaina The adventures of Tom Sawyer na polskim rynku wydawniczym. Książka wydaje się szczególnie ważną pozycją ze względu na swoje stałe miejsce w kanonie lektur szkolnych, które skutkuje systematycznym powiększaniem się jej serii translatorskiej. Punktem kluczowym jest omówienie wersji dzieła z załączonym opracowaniem dostosowanych do potrzeb uczniów klasy piątej szkoły podstawowej. Propozycje lektury zaprezentowane przez Wydawnictwo Zielona Sowa, Wydawnictwo Skrzat, Wydawnictwo GREG i Wydawnictwo Ibis zostają przeanalizowane pod kątem zastosowanych strategii marketingowych oraz realizacji założeń podstawy programowej. Odpowiedziano również na pytanie czy sfera związana z utrzymaniem się przedsiębiorstwa na rynku oraz zakres wartości edukacyjnych, które mają ukształtować świadomego czytelnika, są ze sobą spójne.

Theaterprogramm zur Aufführung von den „Abenteuern des Tom Sawyer“ nach einem Roman von Mark Twain (1835-1910) des Dramatischen Theaters in Elbing vom Dezember 2000. Rückkehr in die Welt der Fantasie – so ist die Botschaft dieses Romans, in dem die Kinder keine fabrikmäßig gefertigten Spielsachen hatten und gute Spielideen in ihrer Fantasie entstanden. Die Handlung wurde um eigene Erinnerungen des Schriftstellers aufgebaut und stellt außergewöhnliche Abenteuer von zwei Jungen: Tom und Huck dar. Alle Werke vom amerikanischen Schriftsteller sind treue und realistische Bilder der damaligen Amerika. Der Autor nimmt schwierige Themen an, schildert sie aber nicht ohne Humor und Komik.
