  The changing demographic conditions in the 21st century have an impact on the pastoral activity of the Church community. Faced with an ageing society and a decreasing number of priests, members of the Church are forced to reflect on the following question: “How are we to be the Church today?” The ministry of lay Catholics to the sick, the suffering and the elderly is a distinctive sign of our times that requires theological and pastoral reflection. In the future, the assistance of lay people to priests will be necessary on a broader scale, hence the need for the formation of lay people in preparation for this service.;
  Zmieniające się uwarunkowania demograficzne w XXI wieku mają wpływ na działalność pastoralną wspólnoty Kościoła. Starzejące się społeczeństwo oraz coraz mniejsza liczba kapłanów sprawiają, że członkowie Kościoła muszą podjąć refleksję na temat „Jak mamy być Kościołem dzisiaj?”. Posługa katolików świeckich wobec chorych, cierpiących i osób starych jest znakiem szczególnym w naszych czasach i domaga się refleksji teologicznopastoralnej na ten temat. W przyszłości pomoc świeckich kapłanom będzie konieczna w szerszym zakresie, stąd konieczność formacji świeckich przygotowującej do tej służby,
